Update: Mr. Foote's passing has been confirmed by CSX. See the Press release here: https://www.csx.com/index.cfm/about-us/in-memoriam-of-jim-foote/ ___________________ As of 11pm ET on Tuesday, April 16th, reports are circulating that former CSX CEO James M. Foote has passed away. Foote was an attorney by trade and worked in senior marketing capacities during E. Hunter Harrison's tenure at Canadian National. Later, after a period away from the industry, joined Harrison's team at CSX, succeeding him following the latter's death in 2017. Foote retired from CSX in 2022, handing over the reins to current Chief Executive Joe Hinrichs. His name can be found on the flanks of one CSX's dome cars, previously named "Moonlight Dome," whose lineage includes CSX predecessors Baltimore & Ohio and Chesapeake & Ohio. This is a developing story and we will provide updates as more information becomes available. Photo Credit: Railway Age
